How much potential sits in your donor data?
The Tailwind Check is our donor analysis for annual planning. We recalculate the past with your data (we call it a backtest) and show how much more income would have been possible at the same volume. In each of the last five Tailwind Checks, we found more than €100,000 in net income potential.

What a result looks like
An example from the product, shortened. The numbers are made up, not a real run.
Your AI agent for fundraising data, audiences, mailings, reports, and donor questions. We'll work through it together.
I've analysed the 2026 house mailings by rank in the selection. The selection ranks all donors by expected value. I measured what each letter actually returned by rank, and compared it against cost.
What this means: From rank 40,000, a letter returns just around €0.45 against a cost of €0.85. On average, around 26,000 letters per house mailing crossed that threshold, generating roughly €11,700 in return against €22,100 in costs. Across 8 house mailings, that is around 210,000 fewer letters.
| Mailing | 2026 Volume | Proposed 2027 |
|---|---|---|
| HM 1 Donation receipt | 66,000 | approx. 65,000 |
| Regular HMs, each | approx. 66,000 | approx. 40,000 |
| HM Christmas | 72,000 | approx. 75,000 |
| Emergency HMs, each | 30,000–65,000 | approx. 55,000 |
| New: Reactivation, twice a year | – | approx. 28,000 |
| New: Second gift | – | approx. 450/month |
Part of the freed-up postage budget goes into two new mailings: Reactivation for at-risk donors who will no longer receive every house mailing, and Second Gift for first-time donors of the past 12 months.
What next? After accounting for the new mailings, around €125,000 in postage budget remains. According to the curve, additional house mailings would add very little.
Shall I look at whether we can acquire new donors more efficiently through other channels, such as online?
Where money stays on the table in annual planning
Print runs follow last year
Letters go to the same donors as last year, even where a letter earns less than it costs.
At-risk monthly donors show up too late
People who are about to cancel often show it in the data first. Without analysis you notice when the cancellation arrives.
The budget is set before the numbers
Planning is done before you know which channels actually paid off.

Decision
You see the numbers and decide whether and how to continue.
Personal data stays in your house. The analysis runs on anonymous donor IDs.
What you get: your net income potential
A backtest means: we act as if you had planned with the models last year and compare that with what really happened. That shows how much income would have been left after all costs.
An example from the product (shortened): beyond a certain rank in the selection, a letter earns less than it costs. Daisy derives the print run per mailing from that and shows where reactivation or a second gift pays off.

Frequently asked questions
What is a donor analysis?
A donor analysis evaluates your donor data: who gives how often, what a mailing earns by selection rank, who is at risk of lapsing. In the Tailwind Check we recalculate the past with your data.
Which data do I need?
Two standard exports from your database: donors with anonymous IDs and the donation history. Your IT does not have to approve anything.
How much effort is this for my team?
A 15-minute conversation and two exports. You get the report 3 days later.
What happens to personal data?
It stays in your house. The analysis runs on anonymous donor IDs.
Who is it for?
Nonprofits in the DACH region with at least €3M in annual donation volume.
How reliable is the result?
The backtest shows what would have been possible in the past. It is not a guarantee for the future. Only a first wave shows whether it works out for you.
